Hot damn that was an amazing weekend. Coachella was amazing. Sigur Ros...incredible. Daft Punk - insane. The whole trip was incredibly fun, (except for my car completely breaking down 70 miles out of phoenix.) But even sitting in the hot and dusty median for 2 hours while my mom came to pick us up managed to be tolerable, and hey, new experience.

ahhh life is good, even with the inevitable cost of car repair sitting on my shoulder I am in a fantastic mood.

    <lj:music>Iggy Pop - Neighborhood Threat</lj:music>

This has been one of the greatest weekends I've had in a long while.

Thursday afternoon, Andrew and Chris pick me up, I bring my small TV/DVD player thing and a bunch of DVD's, a change of clothes, etc. We go pick Scott up, get directions online to six flags, and hit the road. Andrew had his xbox 360 in the car, and the plan was to have some kickass video game-age as we were driving, but 2 fuses later we realized the xbox took too much power for the car to handle, so we had to settle for DVD's, which satisfied quite nicely.

We were leaving Phoenix at around 5, and the rush hour traffic was absolutely terrible. I think it took us a good hour and a half to even get out of phoenix. When we finally got going I popped Cannibal The Musical into the dvd player. I borrowed the movie from Matt, hearing good things. It was made by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in the mid nineties, and it was both very bad and extremely hilarious at the same time. (The sky is blue, and all the leaves are green / The suns as warm as a baked potato/ I think I know exactly what I mean, when I say it's a shpadoinkle day)

We arrived at the hotel very late, around 12:30. We went through a Wendy's drive through for dinner, then went to sleep to prepare for the kick-assness that would follow the next day.

Next day we were out of the hotel at 9:30, off to find a Ralph's supermarket to buy the tickets. Completing that, we drove the 5 miles to Six Flags, and arrived at the park just as it was starting to rain pretty hard. It was cold and raining, and I hadn't packed anything heavier than a t-shirt and jeans. whoops

Because of the way we bought tickets (2 season passes, each coming with a day's admission for one) Chris and I had to stand outside the park entrance for a half hour, soaking wet and cold while Andrew and Scott processed their tickets and stuff inside. Finally getting inside, the adventure started. We hit so many rollercoasters so many times that day I honestly lost track of the number. Highlights include

-Riddler's Revenge while it was pouring. Rain felt like hail in our face, and my whole body was cramped up afterwards because of the cold, but I can honestly say that was close to the most fun ride of the day
-the rollercoaster "X". The only one we had to really wait for, but it was goddamn amazing. The seats spun as the track corkscrewed, it was just incredible.
-Practically no lines except maybe 3 times
-Being able to ride front seat of Scream 4 times in a row because nobody else was waiting
-Flipping off the camera guy on Goliath, him getting security
-Getting everybody on the batman ride to sing with us
-the best rollercoaster picture ever

We were exhausted that night, and fell asleep right when we got back to the room. The next day we left for home around 11:30. On the way home we watched Cannibal the Musical again, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Team America. It was an entertaining ride, I must say.

What a damn fine weekend.

    <lj:music>Piebald - Haven't Tried It</lj:music>

What a freakinnnng great day.

Woke up at 8:30 so we could leave by 9 to go to the skydiving place, which is an hour away. I had a nice nap in the car. We get there, sign in and stuff, and then wait around for quite awhile until anything further happens. We watched a crapload of people landing, which was pretty neat actually. Finally I met up with my instructor dude, who was an ex navy seal. He strapped the harness and stuff on me, and told me everything I needed to know, which was basically, "breathe." We take a tram thing to the plane, and a ton of us loaded in (there was atleast 20-25 people in the small plane) It takes about 15 minutes to get to 13,000 feet, from where we jump. I was surprised that I didn't get nervous in the least until right when I was kneeling before the opened doorway, watching the camera dude hanging on outside the plane. We jumped. Ohhhhhh man it was freaking awesome. I really didn't expect the air resistance to be as powerful as it was, quite crazy. After almost a minutes of free-fall (which went by much faster than I would have liked) the chute was pulled, and we glided down for I think about 4 more minutes. I got to steer the parachute (I guess that's what you'd call it), and managed to make myself quite motion sick. Landing was very smooth, which I didn't expect watching the other people landing before I went up. Excellent, excellent.

I guess I can cross that off the list.

Then tonight I went to the Piebald show with Rakesh and Justin, and that too kicked mucho ass. 5 bands played, most notable were Piebald (duh), Hot Rod Circuit, and Pistolita. Piebald was amazing, jeez.

Anyway, yeah. Good stuff. GOOD STUFF!
